IO, ISABELLA INTERNATIONAL FILM WEEK is the First Festival in the South, and the second in Italy, devoted to Creative Documentary and Cinema made by and about women. This week long event, mediterranean at heart and international in its soul, is first and foremost preoccupied with the quality of the work presented, which has no boundaries of genre and origin, format or style, and offers a large selection of high quality, engaging, artistically and culturally charged works coming from the four corners of the planet. The competition is exclusively devoted to films made by and about women, while a good 70% of the totality of the films featured in all sections is devoted to non-fiction productions tailored for Theatrical release and distribution. IO, ISABELLA is devoted to offering a platform to and actively supporting independent filmmaking from around the globe, female media professionals and high quality non-fiction filmmaking; therefore the event sets a rare example in Italy of a Film Festival particularly suited for the discovery of fresh international talents and for the preview of a large number of World, International and Italian Premieres (the past edition featured a stunning 89% of premieres).

During IO, ISABELLA's week a dedicated audience of over 5000 people follow the screenings, the satellite events and the talk-shows, which are also covered by over 200 national radios, various TV stations and local and national press (both off- and online). The festival is also known for its relaxed, convivial and informal atmosphere which is fostered by the enchanted background of the location, Maratea, the pearl of the Tyrrhenian, which is renowed for its untouched natural beauty and its elitist touristic and cultural tradition.

Festival Programme
Every year IO, ISABELLA features a Competition, a variety of non-competitive sections (a Country in Focus, and 3 other sections focusing on specific issues and themes), talk-shows and Satellite Events. In total the Festival screens about 70 films of any genre, format and origin. Distribution
Through the year IO, ISABELLA distributes a selection of the festival Programme in Italy and abroad via different channel and collaborations and through the organisation of a tour that touches major italian cities all the way to Amsterdam. Moreover from the current edition IO, ISABELLA will start an online distribution by throwing the fundaments for a comprehensive archive of the work of worldwide female filmmakers. Also IO, ISABELLA covers all major international film festivals, meetings and events. The production of a DVD featuring the best of our competition films is also in the bubble.
